Selected Work
A selection of work from over a decade of communications experience across frontier tech companies, federal government, national advocacy, and entertainment, helping complex, high-stakes companies and institutions earn understanding, legitimacy, and trust.

Making Hard Ideas Understood
Fusion energy is one of the hardest communications problems in tech. At both Commonwealth Fusion Systems and Proxima Fusion, I built the narratives, explainers, visual storytelling, and multi-channel content engines that moved fusion from sci-fi framing to industrial framing and made it legible to the investors, policymakers, press, and technical audiences each company needed to earn trust from.
Building Brands
At Proxima, I built the messaging architecture, editorial standards, and content infrastructure for a rapidly scaling start-up from zero. At CFS, I directed creative production across video, social, and editorial channels, and grew social audiences 71% through multi-platform expansion. At the Atlantic Council, I launched an in-house video production capability from scratch and shaped how one of the world's leading foreign policy institutions communicated its work to global audiences.

High-Stakes Moments
I've owned executive social for President-elect Biden and incoming Cabinet nominees during the transition's confirmations rollout, directed digital communications for the U.S. Ambassador to the UN during breaking international events, led communications for high-profile live events featuring government principals, and managed rapid-response operations for national advocacy organizations across elections and major policy fights. I held Top Secret/SCI clearance through the State Department.
Audience & Movement Building
At Climate Power, I built and scaled an influencer program that extended federal policy messaging to millions of followers, produced ad campaigns, video, and live events timed to legislative moments tied to landmark climate legislation, and coordinated coalition communications across partner organizations with distinct stakeholder priorities. At National Security Action, I directed multi-channel campaigns across elections and crises (paid, organic, and rapid response) on democratic resilience, disinformation, and foreign interference.

Video Storytelling
Video has been a primary medium across my communications work – the most direct way to translate technical, contested, or unfamiliar subjects into something audiences can see and trust. The selected work below was made for fusion energy startups, a leading foreign policy institution, and the Biden-Harris Presidential Transition, with end-to-end ownership across development, scripting, on-set producing and interviewing, and directing editors.

Brands I've Worked With
From narrative shorts to digital series to integrated marketing campaigns, I've built audiences and brand voice by producing content at scale, within IP and institutional constraints.

Writing
Writing is the central craft of communications, and most of what I've written in the past decade has been published under other people's names – fusion CEOs, the President-elect, foreign policy principals, and the organizations I've worked for. The handful of pieces linked below are selected to show the range, judgment, and discipline that ghostwriting and institutional writing require.

Executive Voice
"The Wrong Question About Fusion"
Published as a LinkedIn article under the byline of Proxima Fusion CEO Francesco Sciortino
April 2026 | Link
I drafted and developed this piece as part of ongoing executive voice work at Proxima. The piece reframes the public conversation about fusion away from grid-deployment timelines and toward industrial-platform building – a strategic narrative move designed to reposition how investors, policymakers, and the broader public evaluate deep tech progress. The piece had 394 reactions and reader response included "a powerful reframing" and "brilliant and deeply insightful" – public validation that the strategic intent landed with the intended audience.
Institutional Voice
"Talking About Q>1: Why Clarity Matters in Fusion"
Published on the Proxima Fusion website and LinkedIn page
August 2025 | Link
I wrote this piece as part of building Proxima's editorial standards for how we discuss technical milestones in public. It's a meta-piece – a publicly available document of how the company uses (and refuses to use) specific terminology around fusion gain, what we mean by scientific breakeven versus engineering gain, and why precision matters when the broader category is prone to misinterpretation.
Executive Voice
"Europe's Turning Point for Fusion: Why Bavaria's €400M Bet on Proxima Matters"
Published as a LinkedIn article under the byline of Proxima Fusion CEO Francesco Sciortino
March 2026 | Link
A major-moment executive piece tied to the Memorandum of Understanding between Proxima, the Free State of Bavaria, RWE, and the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics. I drafted the piece to do specific strategic work: position the funding architecture as a sequencing story (Bavarian commitment unlocking federal participation) and frame Proxima as the structural beneficiary of European public-private alignment. The piece had 758 reactions and was referenced in media coverage across the FT, Sifted, Handelsblatt, and more.
Institutional Voice
"Fueling Our Star on Earth: The Tritium Challenge Explained"
Published on the Proxima Fusion website and LinkedIn page
May 2025 | Link
A technical translation piece on the tritium fuel-cycle problem in fusion, written for an audience that includes policymakers, investors, journalists, and informed general readers. The piece illustrates how I approach the core challenge of deep tech institutional voice: explaining genuinely hard physics and engineering without dumbing it down, while keeping the company's specific perspective and positioning legible throughout.
Executive Voice
Email Introducing Presidential Cabinet Nominees
Emailed by the Biden-Harris Presidential Transition Team under the byline of President-Elect Joe Biden
November 2020
I drafted this email sent under then-President-elect Biden's name as part of owning executive voice for the transition's Cabinet rollout. The piece introduces six initial Cabinet nominees and appointees, each with biographical framing and policy positioning that needed to feel authentically Biden in voice while introducing each principal as their own public figure. The closing ("America is back. And America is ready to lead.") became part of the broader transition's narrative architecture. The full email is available upon request.
Press Release
Commonwealth Fusion Systems Selected by U.S. DoE for Milestone Program
Distributed to media and published on the CFS website
May 2023 | Link
A press release I drafted around CFS's selection for the DOE's milestone-based commercial fusion development program, illustrating traditional comms craft – multi-stakeholder quote architecture (CEO, Congressional co-sponsor), policy framing tied to broader administration priorities, and clean technical communication of what the program actually does and why it matters.
